Third Edge was started by Alaskans who have spent decades skiing, guiding, and exploring these mountains.
This is our backyard, and we love blowing minds with what Alaska can deliver.
Our team is a handpicked group of ringers — industry veterans, guides, pilots, chefs, and lodge staff with deep Alaska experience, an uncompromising focus on safety, and a shared commitment to delivering the best ski week possible.
From the skiing to the food, logistics, recovery, and lodge life, nothing is an afterthought. The lodges are comfortable, relaxed, and built for the kind of week where you ski hard, eat well, laugh, recover, and build real relationships through the shared experience.
We are here to knock it out of the park and show you our Alaska.
Every group skis with two guides—one out front and one in the back. That means the lead guide can stay focused on terrain, route selection, and what’s ahead, while the second guide stays with the group and watches everything happening behind.
In Alaska, conditions can change fast. Snow, visibility, terrain, and group dynamics are always moving. Having two experienced guides gives us better coverage, more information, and more flexibility to make smart decisions throughout the day.
It’s a big part of the Third Edge model. Two guides means more eyes on the mountain, more support for the group, and a higher standard for how we manage every run.
Greg Harms built his life around the mountains. From Mt. Hood and Tahoe to Aspen, Alaska, South America, Iceland, Canada and beyond, he spent decades skiing, guiding, exploring new terrain, and sharing those places with people who often became close friends.
Third Edge grew from Greg’s way of looking at a ski trip. He believed the best experiences came from knowing the people he was guiding, understanding what excited and challenged them, and having the freedom to build the day around the mountains and the people in them.
Greg was a ski guide. What he wanted the most were seamless days pursuing his passion in remote places with people he considered to be his friends. Greg could be described as memorable, funny, caring, inspiring and of course, BIG! His presence loomed large, and his magnetism always drew people in. When you had his attention, you had all of it. Those who loved him called that being “in Harms’ way.”
Greg was also an innovator. He pioneered terrain in Alaska and Chile and continually looked for better, more personal ways to approach heli-skiing. His goal was simple: create the best possible day for the people he was with.
The people who worked, skied, traveled, and laughed with Greg still carry that philosophy forward. His influence can be felt in the way Third Edge approaches guiding, safety, relationships, and the guest experience today.
Greg passed away in the mountains of Alaska on March 27, 2021, at the age of 52. His legacy lives on through the people he inspired, the friendships he created, and the mountains he loved.

Mark Molthan is an owner of Third Edge Heli whose connection to the mountains runs deep. A lifelong heli-skier, Mark has spent years seeking remote terrain across Alaska and beyond—drawn not only to the challenge, but to the stillness, perspective, and clarity that only the mountains provide.
Shaped by years of experience in demanding environments, Mark understands the discipline, respect, and patience required to return to the mountains season after season. For him, heli-skiing isn’t about adrenaline alone—it’s about resilience, awareness, and the rare peace that comes from being fully present and truly unreachable.
Mark’s relationship with Third Edge is personal. The operation reflects the same values he’s carried into the mountains for decades: authenticity over hype, people over ego, and experiences that are earned—not manufactured.

Jonathan Follett began his culinary efforts in Nashville, TN. Born to English parents in the UK, he immigrated at the age of ten and began cooking for friends and family as a young teen. Moving to New Orleans, after a short stint in Saint Lucia, he attended Tulane University. Working at the flagship restaurant of a highly rated chef, Jonathan’s desire to cook and eat eclipsed his business school study.
Several sous chefs were chosen to travel and work for the executive chef’s mentor in Germany. Moving with his then-girlfriend to the German countryside allowed Jonathan to thoroughly learn the pastry kitchen (as the pastry chef had just quit to go paragliding.)
Upon moving back to New Orleans, Jonathan became a bread baker and then a cellarman and lab tech for a brewery. After a few years of brewing and knife repair work, he returned to the kitchen at another award-winning restaurant in his neighborhood.
Jonathan currently lives with his wife in Sonoma, CA surrounded by vineyards and dairy farms. When not eating cheese on hikes, Jonathan is a tour catering chef to some of the most prominent musical acts in the U.S and Canada.

LODGE HOST
This is Miah’s first year with Third Edge Heli and she is stoked to be joining the team! Miah was born in Alaska, but moved to the Philippines when she was 8 and lived there for 10 years. She would visit family in Alaska every couple years, and it was on these trips that she fell in love with her home state all over again. As a result, this is where she decided to call home once she graduated high school in 2020.
In the Philippines she enjoyed scuba diving, free diving, and playing in the warm ocean, but moving to Alaska required a slight change of hobbies. She learned to ski and loves it, but she’s still building her confidence on the slopes. She enjoys backpacking, salmon fishing, kayaking, and jumping in lakes. Miah is a potter and finds a way to throw no matter where she lives. She also paints, makes block prints and dabbles in wood burning.
Miah’s dad Zach is a helicopter pilot, who (fun fact) flies for Third Edge, and she loves going on flights with him whenever she gets the chance.
Miah worked at a local coffee shop for almost three years and it is one of her favorite things to create delicious drinks for people to enjoy.
